Capitularia - Edition of the Frankish Capitularies

New manuscript pages

28.10.2026

Our new batch of manuscript pages is all about Wolfenbüttel’s Herzog-August-Bibliothek (HAB):
With the addition of Cod. Guelf. Helmst. 254, Cod. Guelf. Helmst. 496a, Cod. Guelf. Helmst. 532, Cod. Guelf. 45 Weiss. and Cod. Guelf. 97 Weiss. the final, hitherto missing pages for Wolfenbüttel manuscripts have now been published on Capitularia. Furthermore, on the occasion of a new publication by the HAB on the history of its collections, our colleague Daniela Schulz has devoted her new blogpost to the fate of Cod. Guelf. 97 Weiss.
Last but not least there are several fresh transcriptions to be announced, especially from Cod. Guelf. 130 Blank. These include the unique copies of BK 105 (c. 1), BK 114 and BK 131 (c. 5) from the time of Charlemagne. The most famous piece on offer however is surely Charlemagne’s Capitulare de Villis (BK 32), exclusively transmitted in Cod. Guelf. 254 Helmst.
